I'm Ba-a-ack!

Yes, that's right! It is me! The wonderful and completely flaky Alyson who promised two blog posts a week and has maybe delivered once this whole summer. *hangs head in shame*
Thank you to my readers who are patiently waiting for me to keep posting when my time is not my own this summer. Only a few weeks left until the trek back to Utah when I'll actually be on a schedule and can keep posting regularly.
Anyway, the Road Show is over and the kids were amazing. I wish I had a video or a photo to share with you, but I don't. I was too busy. The kids chose to use Toy Story as their inspiration, and it was amazing. Out of all the groups, our was the best (obviously), but ours was definitely the hardest because we had 28 kids participating and everyone else had under 18 kids. The kids are all aged 12-18 (one of ours turned twelve last week, so she was technically 11 when it started). The hardest part was having enough parts for every kid. That's where Toy Story came in. We had a Woody, Buzz, Small Fry, Jessie, Mr. & Mrs. Potato Head, Hamm, Aliens, Rex, Army Men, and we also used Bonnie's Toys from the 3rd movie so we had Dolly, Mr. Pricklepants, Buttercup, Trixie, Barbie, Ken, and the barrel of monkeys. It was insane.

Some other ideas people used were Guardians of the Galaxy and Inside Out. The kids had such a blast writing their script, songs, and choreography. There was also a group of kids who didn't want to be on stage so they did lights, sound, sets, and props. I'm so proud of everyone who participated.

Now that that's over, everything is starting to wind down. Husband of Mine only has a few weeks left of his internship, and once we get back to Utah, two semesters left of school. Then life is up in the air once again.
In the meantime, I've had a few sewing projects. I made Puppy of Mine bandanas! I'm really tired of people asking me if she's a boy or a girl when I'm holding a HOT PINK leash in my hand. So I very specifically picked colors that look girly. Then I decided I didn't care because she looks so cute in everything.

In other news, Puppy of Mine is a whole year old! Saturday was her birthday and we gave her a cupcake. Isn't she adorable?! Remember when we first brought her home and she was so tiny? Notice how her smile in these pictures is the same smile as the day we first brought her home. I think my heart is going to melt. She's so adorable. We gave her a cupcake from a dog bakery at the local mall. She loved it.
In other, other news, I've had another birthday this past week, and here's the tally.

I got the final season of Psych (finally!) on DVD, I got two books of fairy tales (one is the Brothers Grimm and the other is Hans Christian Anderson), Peter Pan, To Kill a Mockingbird (not the sequel though-but if anyone has read it and wants to share their opinion of it with me, please do in the comments. I need more reviews before I pick it up), a notebook, gift cards to Disney and to JoAnn's, another Disney shirt, and candy! The husband also got me a handful of imagineering gear, a 60th anniversary Disneyland pin, a plush Sadness (from Inside Out), and a weekend at the Disneyland hotel and the parks. I'm excited.
So as you can see, I've been very busy. I've also been reading a lot. I have to finish the books I've already been reading, and dig into my new ones too.
In addition to the books I received for my birthday, I have a giant bag full of books I picked up from the school library I volunteered at earlier in the year. The school was closed down at the end of the year, and the librarian was trying to get rid of books, so I grabbed as many as I could. I'll post a picture of those later. I need a new bookshelf....
